Rockstar Makita Suzukis Blake Young to Race Upcoming World Superbike Round

BREA, Calif. - American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) announced today that Suzuki factory racer Blake Young will compete in the next round of World Superbike racing at Donington Park in Great Britain next weekend, June 26 - 28, 2009. Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Young will race the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 of injured rider Max Neukirchner for the Team Suzuki Alstare Brux team.

According to ASMC, the World Superbike ride came about while Young and former World Champion Kevin Schwantz were attending last weekend's race at San Marino's Misano World Circuit. Schwantz and Young met with Team Suzuki Alstare Brux and they agreed to let Young ride in a no-pressure situation.

"I'm really excited to race the Suzuki Alstare Brux GSX-R1000 at Donington Park this weekend," said 21-year-old Young. "I've been racing motorcycles for as long as I can remember. I've always wanted to race Superbike and I've gotten the chance to do that with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team in America. Now, getting the opportunity to do a World Superbike race with the Suzuki Alstare Brux team in Europe is like a dream come true. I'm looking forward to it and want to make the most of this opportunity."

In his first year of AMA Superbike racing this season, Young has already raced his Suzuki GSX-R1000 to two podium finishes and multiple top-five results. For More information on Young and the rest of the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, please log on to www.SuzukiCycles.com.
