Man Loses Marriage and Job, Gains Motivation from 11,000-Mile Motorcycle Trip to Alaska

Sebastiaan de With is a 26-year-old Dutch man living in San Francisco. He's a designer, photographer and motorcycle enthusiast.

As he put it in a Reddit post: de With "got divorced, lost my job, so me and my buddy got on our motorcycles and rode North to the Alaskan Arctic until the road ran out."

De With's journey from San Francisco to Anchorage, Alaska, took about two months roundtrip. He and his friend, Stuart Philkill, documented their journey (they're both photographers) with a series of blog posts on de With's site – you can also find out more about their trip on their appropriately-named site Ride North or on Instagram.

“It has really allowed me to kind of ‘find myself’ after such a turbulent time, and I'm now doing plenty of job-seeking with renewed inspiration to spend my time saving up for more experiences like this,” he wrote.
