May 7th, 2015

Mr Lynam was fatally injured in a crash outside Kilkee yesterday during a Down Syndrome Ireland charity event.

Mr Lynam was passionate about motorbikes and when his daughter Robyn was born in 2005 he and another father of a child with Down Syndrome organised a motorcycle fundraiser.

The fundraiser, called RevUp4DSI in aid of the charity, has raised €1.6m over the last 10 years.

Mr Lynam was a marshall in this year's event when he was fatally injured.

He had co-ordinated all major fundraising campaigns for the charity such as Ice Cream Day.

In recent years, he played a central role in the annual cycling event Tour de Munster, which has raised €1.5m for Down Syndrome Ireland branches around Munster since 2010.

CEO of Down Syndrome Ireland Pat Clarke described Mr Lynam as "one of a kind".

Mr Lynam is survived by his wife Nikki, daughter Robyn and his sons Jake and Harry.
