The DAV/CTs John S Carbone Memorial Poker Run will start at Mike's Famous Harley Davidson in New London, Connecticut on June 18th, 2016.

The event is in honor of John S. Carbone, a Vietnam Marine Corps Veteran and a Past Department Commander (PDC) of the State of Connecticut's subsidiary to the national Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a fraternal and Veterans Service Organization (VSO). It is tailored to help disabled veterans and their families to live better lives despite their maladies. Established in 1920 and chartered by Congress in 1932, DAV is a not-for-profit VSO (As are their subordinate state departments and local chapters). As we accept no federal funding, we rely on membership dues and charitable giving by individuals and groups to sustain our programs. The money netted from this run will go for service programs such as our Transportation Program, whereby we use donated vans to go to and from two Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Centers in our state, our Older Veterans Assistance Program (OVAP), and Operation Gift Card to Walter Reed-Bethesda Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland just outside of our nation's capital.
