PAST EVENT - Benefit Ride for "Little" Tom Crawford

DESCRIPTION	Tom was riding his motorcycle home from work on 27 June, 2008 when a car pulled out of a parking lot directly in front of him. Tom hit the car and his full face helmet contacted the car at the frame rail at the front door. The impact shattered his helmet and broke every bone in his face, his arm and leg. He was trapped under the car for over 45 minutes and a Life Flight chopper took him to the Trauma Center in Asheville, NC. He underwent surgery to relieve the swelling of his brain and lapsed into a coma. The prognosis at the time was grim and they did not expect Tom to come out of the coma and if he did, they feared the brain damage would be so severe he would only live in a vegetative state. In August 2008, Tom came out of the coma and immediately began to show signs of recovery. In the following months Tom has regained his ability to talk and is working on walking now. Tom's recovery is a miracle and his family credits their ability to stay with him around the clock and help him recover. In doing this, the bills for his care have risen to close to $2 million. We are trying to raise money to help pay bills and allow the Crawford's to maintain the level of care they have given Tom. Please join our ride and help us.
