This year's Love Ride scheduled for October 25th, 2009 has been cancelled. As stated by founder Oliver Shokouh earlier this week, a weak economy seems to be the reason for the cancellation this year. Lately this seems to be a reoccurring theme.
For those of you out in the garage polishing your baby with tickets in your pocket, don't fret. Glendale Harley has announced that everyone who has already registered for the Love Ride 26 will receive a Love Ride 26 pin, Love Ride 26 patch and Love Ride 26 t-shirt. All incentive prizes can be picked up on October 24 and 25 at the Glendale Harley-Davidson.
For the others just looking for a good time, there will still be some activities including a autograph session with Peter Fonda at Glendale Harley Davidson on October 23, 2009 starting at 4:00pm and ending at 10:00pm. Also on October 24, 2009 starting at 9:00am and ending at 4:00pm, the Glendale Harley shop will be selling Love Ride memorabilia from dating back to the very first one. Their hope is to counter some of the costs already accumulated by the Love Ride Foundation.
The good news is that all donations to benefit the Love Ride beneficiaries are still being accepted and are tax deductible. According to Glendale Harley the top ten fund-raising prizes featured in the brochure will still be available and rewarded; excluding the opportunity tickets.
